Santa Farma Makes An Export Leap
Predicting an increase in export by over 100% by the end of 2017, Santa Farma will also double the number of export countries.
Santa Farma, one of the most deep-rooted and robust domestic pharmaceutical companies in Turkey, supports the goal of Turkey to become a global pharmaceutical R&D and manufacturing centre by means of its export vision enhanced through new actions.
Operating in 11 distinct therapeutic categories including, without limitation, dermatology, digestive system and metabolism, gastroenterology and infection, and hematology with totally 63 products supplied to 45 different markets, Santa Farma has recently made investments in manufacturing, R&D and access network projects based on its vision to steer growth with export. Having opened a manufacturing plant on a land of 80 thousand sqm in Dilovası GEBKİM OIZ along with an R&D centre, Santa Farma has begun to reap the fruits of its export-based growth strategy.
Over 300% growth in export
The company achieved over 300 percent growth in export figures for the first quarter of 2017 when compared to the same period of the previous year. Currently exporting products to Azerbaijan, Vietnam, Kosovo, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Iraq, Turkmenistan and Yemen, Santa Farma also increased its volume of export over 600 percent in terms of quantities when compared to the same period of the previous year.
Anticipating 113% increase by the end of the year
Mr. Erol Kiresepi, Santa Farma President & CEO, made a statement about this development: “Pharmaceutical industry is of strategic importance for 2023 economic targets of Turkey. Completing technological transformation and achieving export-based growth will make significant contributions to our country in macroeconomic terms. In that respect, Santa Farma has successfully completed this transformation. All the manufacturing and laboratory equipment available in our new plant come with the state-of-the-art technology developed by the leading brands in pharmaceutical industry and also satisfy all cGMP and cGLP requirements. The plant is capable of manufacturing 150 million boxes in a single shift. We are finally reaping the fruits of our efforts. We anticipate a growth of 113 percent increase as of the end of 2017 when compared to the previous year.”
The number of export countries will double
Kiresepi pointed out that the company will double the number of export companies in 2017. “We double the number of export countries and partners in 2017 when compared to 2016. Currently, we export our products to almost 10 countries including Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan and Vietnam. We will add other countries and regions such as Pakistan, Philippines, Western, Eastern and Central Africa, Jordan, Albania, Colombia, and Russia Federation to our portfolio,” said Kiresepi.
