CEO and Managing Director of Santa Farma and Deputy Chairman of TİSK (The Turkish Confederation of Employer Associations) Erol Kiresepi attended the Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD) held on October 14-16th 2015 where the migration problem was addressed by the multinational employers. Stressing the fact that employers cannot overlook the migration problem Mr. Kiresepi said: “Migration and migrants have now become a global problem. And its significance in the global economy increases by the each passing day. The figures are stunning. The number of migrants worldwide has increased by 33 percent to reach 232 million just in 15 years. Now it is the high time for the world and Europe to establish a good cooperation, act wisely and in unison to properly address the international migration and development issues.”Mr. Kiresepi indicated that, more than 300 global civil society leaders attending the meeting summarized their recommendations on migration and development to be presented to the governments during the Civil Society Days held on the first two days of the summit. And he added that in the roundtable title: ‘Partnerships and Actions for Recruitment and Employment of Migrant Workers’ organized within the scope of ‘Common Areas Meeting’ and chaired by him, the delegates of governments, international organizations, and civil societies have voiced their opinions about the dynamism and mobility in the labor markets.Mr. Kiresepi explained that a decision was made during the meeting for establishment of a GFMD Employer Consultancy Group consisting of the representatives of employers, and for gathering of a thematic “GFMD Employers Meeting” each year to address the economic and migration policies in order to table the issue once again on the global agenda.During the meeting, the statutory aspects surrounding migrant labor with regards to creation of innovative policies relating to skill-mobility and skill- compatibility, recruitment processes and information technologies,were also addressed.
