Erol Kiresepi Attended The Summit for G20 Ministers of Labor


On April 23, 2020, the G20 Summit for Ministers of Labor was held using video conferencing method.


Ms. Zehra Zumrut Selcuk, the Minister of Family, Labor and Social Services of the  Republic of Turkey, attended the  summit,  which was  also attended by Mr. Erol Kiresepi,  the President of  the International Organization of Employers (IOE), and the Chairman of the Board of Directors  of Santa Farma Pharmaceuticals, as the representative of global employers. 


Speaking at the TG20 Summit for Ministers of Labor, Mr. Erol Kiresepi, the President of IOE, said that the commitments made at the G20 Leaders Summit held on March 26 were positively welcomed in the Business World, but the supports should be determined on the basis of targets and existing supports should be made more accessible in order for the decisions taken by the G20 countries to be reflected to the real economy.


Kiresepi said that  sectoral initiatives have been initiated for the solution of economic and social problems suffered by the global economy,  that,  in this context, the world's leading brands and retail chains have created a cooperation mechanism for the textile industry under the leadership of the IOE, ILO and International Trade Unions Confederation (ITUC), that  they expect the G20 to support this initiative, which was launched with the aim of sustaining the   production  sbector and protecting employees' income security and health, and that they came together with international stakeholders in sectors such as tourism and air transportation, which were adversely affected by the epidemic.


Mr. Kiresepi also mentioned the role of employers' organizations in this period, and   underlined the fact that employers' organizations are one of the most important stakeholders in the determination, implementation and monitoring of the measures to be taken for the solution of the economic and social problems caused by the COVID 19 outbreak, and that the business world, especially IOE members on a global scale, is determined to support the collective struggle initiated to eliminate the negative effects of COVID 19 pandemic.
