Mr. Erol Kiresepi, Vice President of the Turkish Confederation of Employer Associations (TISK) and CEO of Santa Farma Pharmaceuticals, participated on November 18, 2015 in the panel discussion on respecting children’s rights in law and practice at the UN Forum on Business & Human Rights. Speaking on behalf of the IOE as co-chair of the ILO's Child Labour Platform, Mr. Kiresepi held up the initiative as providing a valuable tool for businesses in determining approaches to respecting the rights of children, and in particular in combatting child labour. He noted how the CLP had, through the exchange of best practice and experience, already allowed businesses to understand and address some of the root causes and systemic dimensions of child labour and the potential impact of their own operations.Mr. Kiresepi went on to describe how the work of the CLP had led to collaboration between the IOE, ILO and Shift on the development of a toolkit - to be launched in the near future - that would guide employers on how to do business with respect for the rights of children and to be free of child labour throughout their operations, including their supply chains.
